Most people think of Toddlers & Tiaras when they hear the words "beauty pageant", but there's more to that world than just the glitz and glam. One local woman especially thinks so, and she's out to try and change the stereotype.

Wisconsin Premiere Pageants Director and Founder Patience Lord says she is starting her own local pageant for a few reasons. First, she saw the need for having competitions on a more local scale as doing so would keep those wanting to be involved in pageantry from driving three plus hours to Milwaukee or larger cities for them.

At the same time, Lord says TV producers and editors play up the sides of pageantry that will make for best TV, and that's why many people have the wrong stereotype associated with beauty queens. She wants to curb that stigma into a more realistic view in her local community.

Her 2012 Miss Pretty in Pink Pageant will be held September 23rd at Rothschild's Stoney Creek Inn for woman ranging in ages from 1-25. For more information, you can visit Lord's website www.wisconsinpremierpageants.com.
