It's the day most kids dread and many parents look forward to, the first day of school.

Since it will be here before we know it, there is a local effort to make sure every kid has all the school supplies they need.

The Stevens Point Police Department is taking part in Project Fresh Start 2012, giving needy kids those required supplies. More than 3,000 of them qualify this year.

They need your help though, to help them; you can drop off donations in the police department lobby now, through August 13th.
