Winner of the best "Cat Comedy" video Melissa Thorpe poses for a photograph with her gold-plated Catuette trophy following "The Friskies" Award Show, Tuesday, Oct. 15, 2013, in New York.
According to cat food maker Friskies, 15 percent of all internet traffic is somehow connected to cats. The statistic is certainly paying off for one Shawano County woman.
Tuesday, Melissa Thorpe of Aniwa won $5,000 and a "catuette" trophy at the 2013 Friskies awards, a celebration of internet cat videos.
Posted in May, "Cat vs. Printing Paper" features the escapades of Melissa's cat Remy and was voted the top video in the comedy category. Since the 33-second clip went viral, it's been seen nearly 2-million times.
$25,000 in prizes were awarded for "Comedy," "Catventure," "Rescue Cat," and "Pursuit of Food or Rreat" as well as the online public's fan favorite.
