Some believe that dogs are a man's best friend, so much so that they admittedly groom, train, and pamper them as much as their own children. Such is the case for many of the pet owners competing in the AKC All Breed Dog Shows this weekend.
Over 600 canines are expected to compete at the Patriot Center this Saturday and Sunday, with over 111 breeds in attendance.
The event itself is a nationwide function that's taken a full year to prepare, but it's more than just a dog show, it's also a fundraiser for two organizations in the community. Organizers say a $1,000 check will be given to the Village of Kronenwetter for their purchase of a new police dog. Also, money will be raised for the Humane Society of Marathon County at the event.
Admission is $3 for adults and free for children ages 12 and under, as long as they're accompanied by an adult. For more information you can visit the show's official page at www.papercitieskc.org.
