The smell of delicious deep fried goodness is still hanging in the air in Wausau as the Wisconsin Valley Fair opened its gates Tuesday.
Vendors were busy putting on their finishing touches to their booths earlier in the day and 4-Hers spent the morning bringing in their prized projects. Those included a few special works of art that will be showcased around the fair grounds.
4-H Program Director, Amber Brei, says "We were looking for more seating out around the fair grounds so some clubs and FFA groups decided to decorate a lot of benches."
And if you're wondering what the most popular projects are in Marathon County, Brei says cultural arts and photography top the list.
Also on Tuesday cloverbuds - who are pre-4-Hers - had the opportunity to have their projects judged by some fair royalty.
