Roads in Wood, Portage, Clark and Marathon County Still Closed

Cruse Road was closed following the floods last year. In addition to minor erosion repairs, there were another 21 road closings because of damaged culverts, the drainage infrastructure that carries stormwater underneath the road.

Cruse Road was closed following the floods last year. In addition to minor erosion repairs, there were another 21 road closings because of damaged culverts, the drainage infrastructure that carries stormwater underneath the road.

The rain may have let up, but the area is still dealing with flooding. Authorities in Wood, Portage and Marathon Counties say many roads are still closed this morning.

Marathon County sheriff's deputies say roads that were closed yesterday because of floodding will stay that way until at least Friday. That's when highway department workers will check them over and determine whether they are safe to open up again.

And Portage County officials say a number of roads there are still closed as well.
