MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- The state Assembly has approved a bill that would set out $15 million for job training grants over the next two years.

Public and private organizations that provide matching funds would be eligible for grants, which could be used to train both new and incumbent employees. The bill would appropriate about $5 million for the Department of Workforce Development to administer the program.

The measure also would require DWD to create a new computer database that would match job-seekers with employers.

The Assembly approved the bill on a 94-4 vote. It goes next to the state Senate.
