Election Preview

All eyes will be on Wisconsin as thousands prepare to vote in the first ever statewide recall primary election.

By 10 p.m. Tuesday, we expect to learn who will take on republican Governor Scott Walker and Lt. Gov. Rebecca Kleefisch in the state's historic recall primary. Four republican senators are also being recalled.

On each ballot across the state voters will find democratic and republican candidates for governor, and democratic candidates only for lieutenant governor.

Tom Barrett, Kathleen Falk, Kathleen Vinehout, Doug La Follette and Gladys Huber are running in the democratic primary for governor.

Arthur Kohl-Riggs is running against Gov. Walker in the republican primary.

Issac Weix, Mahlon Mitchell and Ira Robins are running in the democratic primary for lieutenant governor.

There are also fake democrats running against democratic candidates in four senate recall races.

Because it's a special recall election you can vote against party lines, but can only vote once per office.

Holding the elections on the same day is a money saver for the state.

"It would have been much more expensive to have these on different dates so they're all on the same day but they're legally separate events," said Government Accountability Board Public Information Officer Reid Magney.

The GAB predicted the cost of the 2012 recall election would top $9 million, with the majority falling on local municipalities. Wausau will spend $15,000 per election.

Because there is a primary, Wisconsin will tack on an additional $9 for the June 5th recall election.

"It's an added expense but everything looks like it will be covered," said Wausau City Clerk Toni Rayala.

Rayala says costs include hiring and training poll workers, printing ballots, paper work and equipment.

Also on Tuesday, voters will not be required to show photo identification because of two court injunctions. Voters will have to sign a poll book.
