Tuesday is a historic day. Not only are there a number of races on the ballot like Governor and Lieutenant Governor, but your vote will affect the future of Wisconsin. People are filing into local polling places to cast their vote.
"At the polling locations, things are going very well, and quite a steady turnout, people have been coming in constantly," says Wausau City Clerk Toni Rayala.
The Government Accountability Board estimated voter turnout to be between 30% and 35%, but the city clerk says that number is expected to be higher in Wausau. By 10 a.m., voter turnout was already at 8%. "I think more people in Wausau vote then a combined ratio of statewide, so I think we're looking at 40-45% that's an estimate that we are going by, what we've already seen this morning," she says.
She says they have a higher turnout now even though this is a primary election, then they did back in April for the General Election.
