Rep. Louis Molepske Jr.

Democrat Louis Molepske Jr. says he will not seek re-election to represent the 71st district in the State Assembly, but will run for Portage County District Attorney.

In a press release, he wrote, “My decision not to run for re-election to the Assembly has not been an easy one to make, but I believe that it is time for me to serve the public in a new way."

He was elected to the Assembly in a special election in 2003 and won re-election four times. His current term runs until January of next year.

The District Attorney spot is open as current DA, Tom Eagon will replace retiring judge Fredric Fleischauer.
