Speaker of the House John Boehner Makes a Stop in Wausau

Speaker of the House John Boehner says Mitt Romney made the right choice by picking Wisconsin Representative Paul Ryan as his running mate.

He stopped in Wausau Saturday night at the Victory Center. Boehner says he's worked closely with Ryan for quite a long time. In fact, when Boehner was running for Congress more than 20 years ago, Ryan helped put yard signs up for him. Boehner says he's proud of not only Ryan but Romney too because it couldn't have been an easy decision to make.

"There were a couple of safe picks out there and he didn't do that. He decided to be bolder about it and I congratulate him for it," says Speaker of the House John Boehner.

He says Ryan is a reformer who knows more about the budget process and challenges the country faces than almost anybody in Washington, D.C.
