Report Cites Confusion among Voters at Polls

MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- The League of Women Voters is recommending there be more training for poll workers after observers noted widespread confusion at the polls during the June 5 recall election of Gov. Scott Walker.

The League released its findings Wednesday. It was based on observations of more than 150 volunteers sent to more than 420 polls across Wisconsin on the day Walker and five other Republicans faced recall elections.

Its report says election officials were confused at many polling stations about what types of documents showing proof of residence that voters who wished to register on election day needed.

The League also says that some election observers were very aggressive and intimated both election officials and voters.

The report recommends a number of improvements to be made before the November presidential election.
