(Press Release) Representative Amy Sue Vruwink (D-Milladore) today sent a letter to Governor Walker thanking him for hosting the brat picnic and calling on him to follow the overture of bipartisanship with meaningful collaboration on legislation focused on closing the “skills gap”.

Representative Vruwink wrote, “My constituents want to know how legislators plan to work together. They demand bipartisanship!

“If the picnic truly is a preface to meaningful and consistent collaboration, then I will wholeheartedly agree that the event was beneficial. “I call on you and the Republican leadership in the Senate and Assembly to follow through on your stated commitment to bipartisanship immediately. I call on you to order, as soon as the
results of all recall races are complete and the full Senate can be seated, a Special Session of the Legislature to address an issue [skills gap] that brings Wisconsin together instead of divides.
“We cannot wait for the next scheduled legislative session. The 2011-12 Legislative Session ended in mid-March, several weeks earlier than the traditional close of a session. I was disappointed we did not utilize additional time working on legislation for Wisconsin. However, I am hopeful that we can return to the floor now with commitment to bipartisanship. I look forward to working with you and all legislators FOR Wisconsin.”

Representative Vruwink represents the 70th Assembly District.
