U.S. Congresswoman Tammy Baldwin (D-WI) says she can beat republican challenger and former Governor Tommy Thompson this November.
Baldwin stopped at Grandma's Corner Cafe in Wausau Thursday afternoon to meet with voters.
She says voters have a clear choice in November: someone who is working for the people of Wisconsin or someone who is working for special interests in Washington.
Baldwin says growing the economy and cutting the deficit are two priorities for the state and country, and there are sensible ways of doing so that don't include gutting Medicare or education.
"I think there are many places where we can make significant cuts to our budget in terms of farm subsidies to millionaire farmers who don't need them, cutting subsidies to big oil that doesn't need it."
Baldwin says the country could also save significant dollars by bringing our troops home from Afghanistan and ending the war.
She is also a supporter of tax fairness and has introduced the buffet rule, which would have those who earn more than a million dollars a year pay the same tax rate as middle class families.
