Police Officer Suspended after Gun Goes Off inside Governor's Mansion

MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- A Capitol Police officer has been suspended after accidentally firing their gun inside the governor's mansion Thursday night.

Gov. Scott Walker and his family were not home at the time and no one was injured.

State Department of Administration spokeswoman Stephanie Marquis says the officer has been suspended with pay while an investigation is ongoing. She expects the investigation to be done Monday.

Marquis says the officer accidentally discharged the weapon inside the security office at the governor's mansion in Maple Bluff, an enclave of Madison. The incident happened around 10:45 p.m.
