Thompson Leads GOP Foes in Wisconsin Senate Fundraising

Former Gov. Tommy Thompson has raised more than three other Republican challengers in the U.S. Senate race for the three months ending in June.

Thompson's campaign reported Monday that he raised nearly $834,000 between April and June. That is ahead of the $733,000 former U.S. Rep. Mark Neumann reported collecting over that time and $237,000 brought in by political newcomer Eric Hovde.

A fourth GOP candidate, state Assembly Speaker Jeff Fitzgerald, reports raising nearly $41,033 for the three months.

Hovde spokesman Sean Lansing says the fact that Hovde has been able to raise what he did as a political newcomer is "remarkable."

Neumann spokesman Chip Englander says the former congressman has saved his money and plans to "dominate the airwaves" leading up to the Aug. 14 primary.
