Nancy Stencil, from the Town of Rib Mountain, announced her candidacy for the 86th Assembly District Thursday. The seat is currently held by Republican John Spiros of Marshfield.
Nancy Stencil has a degree in Human Services and works in the mental health field. She is a 2012 graduate of the Emerge training program for political leadership. Nancy is a life-long resident of the Wausau area.
During her announcement Thursday Stencil told the crowd, “I believe the 86th District, along with the rest of Wisconsin, is capable of supporting family sustaining jobs, jobs with a living wage, affordable health care that respects Women. We are capable of providing funding for our great public schools, technical colleges and the UWMC necessary for supporting out historic quality of life. We don’t have to settle for the last three and a half years of low growth and lost jobs. I believe I can provide the leadership and vision to make these goals a reality."
Stencil described herself as hard working and diverse, adding "I want to work with our communities to empower the middle class. As citizens faced with important choices, we must ask ourselves, do our choices show fairness? Do they show respect? Do our choices benefit our entire community, or just a select few?”
