Madison Matters: A Look at Wis. Recall Logistics

Wisconsin's recall elections are unexplored territory. That means there's plenty for everyone to learn ahead of the June 5 elections.

Here's a quick run-down of the state recall process' details, quirks and oddities. Absentee voting technically already is under way, voters probably won't need photo identification at the polls and candidates' campaign finance reports will emerge in chunks over the next few months.

Losers could get up to two-and-a-half weeks to leave their jobs and winners will serve until after regular elections roll around again in 2014. And yes, the recalls could give the state a governor and lieutenant governor from opposing parties. Democrats want to oust Gov. Scott Walker and four other Republicans from office to punish them for stripping most public workers of nearly all their union rights.
