Governor Scott Walker is hoping brats and beer can help bridge our state's partisan divide.

After winning his recall election Tuesday, Walker vowed to start healing political wounds by inviting Democrats and Republicans to his residence for a cookout.

Walker said it was his wife's idea when addressing a crowd at Merrill Iron and Steel in Schofield Friday afternoon.

He says the "Brat Summit" is a start to bridging the gap between political parties in Wisconsin.

Walker says it's time to move forward from the recall, and the political divide. He's sticking with his goal of creating 250,000 jobs.

He says it's his desire to help small businesses, farmers, and manufacturers grow.

"If we can particularly work on ways to connect workers, people who are looking for jobs with the skill sets they need, again particularly with places like this," Gov. Walker said, talking about the need for welders at Merrill Iron and Steel.

The Governor says he's interested in working with junior high and senior high schools to create more apprenticeship programs to prepare young people for the workforce and get them the training they need.

The Brat Summit is scheduled for Tuesday.
