Former Gov. Tommy Thompson Says Recall Expense was Unnecessary

New numbers show spending by all candidates in the Wisconsin recall races adds up to more than $125 million.

A government watchdog group estimates spending on the Governor's race alone reached around $80 million.

Former Wisconsin Governor Tommy Thompson says that expense was unnecessary and drove many Republicans to the polls to support Scott Walker. He says, “Others came just to say that they were against recalls and I really think that this is the death toll to recalls in the state of Wisconsin."

Thompson says the Governor's next challenge will be getting Republican and Democratic legislators to work together.
