Democrats, Republicans Ramp Up Voter Contacts

If you haven't gotten a phone call or piece of mail related to the June 5 recall election yet, just wait.

Democrats and Republicans are ramping up their efforts to reach out to voters before Gov. Scott Walker faces Democrat Tom Barrett in the recall just a month away.

The Wisconsin Republican Party said Wednesday that it had already made more than 2 million voter contact calls since January, which is more than was made during the entire 2010 election cycle.

Democrats announced a series of get-out-the-vote activities across the state including phone banks with Barrett and lieutenant governor candidate Mahlon Mitchell.

And the television airwaves have already been blanketed with ads from both sides, with more coming. The Republican Governors Association launched a new one Wednesday against Barrett.
