Can Halloween Masks Predict the Next Face of American Politics?

Updated: Fri 8:18 AM, Oct 19, 2012

If you're hoping to be something scarier than a vampire or zombie this Halloween, there's always this option - a politician.

We spoke with the folks at Halloween Express in Rothschild who told us they have a plethora of political options.

"There's Romney, there's Barack, there's Mrs. Obama, there's Bill Clinton, there's George W."

While Gallup and Pew Research may think they've got their finger on the pulse of political consciousness, perhaps the masks themselves will help predict the next face of American politics.

For proof, look no further than the Official Presidential Mask Poll of 2012. It tracks mask sales across the country. One mask equals one vote, and the poll has accurately predicted the Presidential race the last four times.

So far, more Obama masks have been sold nationwide, but here in Wisconsin, the Republicans are giving the Democrats a run for their money.

Regardless of which you find more frightening - the plastic faces or the policies of the real people they're modeled after - one thing is for sure: every four years, Halloween gets a little bit scarier.
