Scam Targets Customers Struggling to Pay Energy Bills

Wisconsin Power and Light Company is warning customers about a scam.

The scam claims President Obama is providing credits or applying payments to utility bills. Customers are told they can make utility payment by using a bank routing number that is supplied by the scam artist and the number appearing on the back of their social security cards as the bank account number.

WPL says payments using those numbers will not be accepted.

To avoid become a victim of this or any scam, never give your personal info out to suspicious callers. If you get a call, hang up immediately and call police.
