Antigo Bridge Dental Clinic Renovations Funded Through Affordable Care Act

The Bridge Dental Clinic in Antigo is celebrating a major renovation. The upgrades make it possible for the clinic to continue providing services for anyone, regardless of their ability to pay.

Tom and Mary Fuchs, and their children Tanner and Melina have good dental care, and they're able to have it just a few miles from home, thanks to Bridge Dental Clinic.

"You come for your cleanings and the check-ups and the kids are familiar with Dr. Freyer and the staff," Mary said.

The clinic offers preventive and restorative dental care regardless if someone is insured. Tom and Mary have private insurance and their kids are covered through BadgerCare, a form of Medicaid which not all dentists accept.

"Due to insurance that Bridge Dental would take, that's kinda how it started and without having to travel to Wausau it was easier to come a few miles," Mary said on why they chose Bridge.

Thursday afternoon the clinic held an open house to show off its major renovation. Updates include upgraded plumbing, new equipment and better accessibility throughout the facility.

The clinic was able to fund these renovations through the Affordable Care Act, also known as Obamacare, which granted the clinic nearly $500,000 for the project.

"We actually received two Affordable Care Act grants one was to renovate the Antigo facility and we have, and one was to greatly expand our Wausau facility which we're currently doing," said Laura Scudiere, the executive director of Bridge Community Health Clinic.

During the open house staff gave tours and the Fuchs were impressed, just like they're impressed with the care they regularly receive.

"Dr. Freyer really cares about his patients, he follows up," said Tom Fuchs. "I don't remember what I had done, but he actually called me to make sure that I was okay and everything was good."

Scudiere says they're excited about the new space and happy to provide a place where everybody can walk through the doors and get quality care.

Wausau's Bridge Clinic expansion, which the Affordable Care Act granted $3.4 million to complete, will be finished early next year.
