PEWAUKEE, Wis. (AP) -- The Stark Candy Company plant in Pewaukee that makes Valentine hearts and Candy Raisins is closing.
New England Confectionery Company has told the state it will close the plant May 30.
It says 137 jobs will be lost.
The plant made so-called conversation hearts popular around Valentine's day.
The sugar wafer candies bear messages such as "Be Mine."
The company says the hearts will still be made at its plant in Revere, Massachusetts.
The Pewaukee plant also makes Candy Raisins, which are gum drop-like candies popular in the Milwaukee area.
The company says it has not decided yet whether production of those candies will be moved to Massachusetts.
