One of the main reasons for holding the Race for the cure is to honor survivors of breast cancer and celebrate them overcoming adversity.
In talking with breast cancer survivors, many of them prefer to use the term conquering instead of surviving. And they are doing that conquering with other women who have gone through the same thing they have.

Race for the Cure- Preparing for the Race
People have begun organizing their teams and the fundraising has already started for the event that celebrates breast cancer survivors. 28-year-old Marshfield resident Meghan Christie was diagnosed with breast cancer five years ago. The mother of two had a double mastectomy and reconstructive surgery. Now she has a clean bill of health.
