A version of the mythical creature called the 'Hodag' is continuing to stir up controversy in the Northwoods.

The artist who created the sculpture for the Rhinelander Area Chamber of Commerce says businesses who use the image of her creation are in violation of a copyrighted piece of work.

In March, Tracy Ehmann demanded stores remove items like shirts and hats from their shelves.

The Executive Director of the Chamber says the artists demands have no legal standing.

Kim Swisher says the RACC commissioned Ehmann to create the sculpture back in 1999, the chamber then had the creation trademarked.

The Executive Director says the chamber then permits the use of the image for companies that want to use its likeness.

An attorney for Tracy Ehmann says they won't make any comments on details surrounding the dispute at this time, but they plan to in the future.
