If you want to join the fight against cancer, the inaugural Susan G. Komen Central Wisconsin Race For The Cure event is happening this month in Wausau.

NewsChannel 7 is sponsoring the 1-mile 5-K Run/Walk on August 22nd.

The race chair says they expect to have about 1,000 racers signed up.

"The money stays locally 75% stays in Central Wisconsin area for research, cure and education and 25% goes to the National Komen Organization and that is earmarked for research also," says Barb Klinner, Race Chair.
