Monday was an emotional day, not just for the dozens of veterans on the Honor Flight, but their spouses too. The Leigh Yawkey Woodson Art Museum put on a luncheon just for them. It wasn't just to entertain theses spouses or help them pass the time. Kathy Foley says, "But capture the stories of the spouses as well. They're going to engage in activities that are part of our "Spark" program, which are using artworks to spark or trigger memories."
Nearly 90 area veterans are back home after a trip to our nation's Capitol. They're the latest group to make the voyage, thanks to the Never Forgotten Honor Flight. The free, day trip gives veterans an opportunity to see the war monuments standing in their honor in Washington D.C. this trip was our area's fifth.
