As the 2012 Never Forgotten Honor Flight departs in just days, many things happen behind the scenes to pull such an amazing trip off for veterans.

Since 2010, 800 veterans have taken the trip of a lifetime. 90 of them will be on the flight Monday. The President of the Honor Flight Board of Directors says that without the community’s help, an awesome event like this one couldn’t happen.

Pat Puyleart elaborated, “It’s a tremendous effort from start to finish, and everyone involved is volunteering their time, effort, and talents.”

Each flight costs between $81,000 and $82,000 and is entirely funded by local fundraisers and community support.

Companies like Kinzie Green, Community Foundation, and Ghidorzi along with many other entities help to take veterans to their memorials without spending a nickel.
