Dozens of veterans from our area who boarded the Never Forgotten Honor Flight are now in Washington D.C. visiting the monuments at our nation's capitol that commemorate their service.
Ninety-one veterans from World War II and the Korean War along with their guardians left central Wisconsin airport around 6:30 Monday morning.
After an hour and a half flight they landed safely in Washington D.C. at Ronald Reagan Airport. The first stop was the World War II Memorial, which was an emotional visit for many veterans. The group took the opportunity to line up for a picture to commemorate the visit.
Newschannel 7's Colin Mayfield is with the group and will bring us more information on the Honor Flight later today.
The public is in invited to attend a welcome rally at central Wisconsin airport at 9:30 p.m. to welcome the Never-Forgotten heroes home.
