Another trip of a lifetime is in the books for about 100 area World War II veterans.
Monday night, the Never Forgotten Honor Flight was welcomed home to Central Wisconsin.
The Honor Flight gives veterans a free trip to Washington, D.C. where they spend the day seeing war memorials.
Hundreds gathered at the Central Wisconsin Airport in Mosinee to welcome the vets home.
Brothers Clarence, John and Edwin Ahrens of Wausau served in WWII, and now they've all been to our nation's capitol, thanks to honor flight.
"It's just great that we could all three go, and we're still alive," said John Ahrens.
He says the camaraderie among the veterans was wonderful and all the memorials are tremendous to see in person.
"Fabulous. Trip of a lifetime. They do a beautiful job," Ahrens said.
The next Never Forgotten Honor Flight is scheduled for September.
