The Never Forgotten Honor Flight will send two more flights on September 19 and October 17 this fall. The group hopes locals will help fundraise for the trip, which is free for vets, so they can see the memorials in Washington, D.C. that honor their service.
On Monday, August 29, the group will host a golf outing fundraiser at Indianhead Golf Course in Mosinee. Registration begins at 10 a.m. and a shotgun start is called for 11 a.m. Everyone is encouraged to attend.
The group has already sent four flights. The emotional experiences are meant to honor the veterans, many of whom may not have had a warm welcome when they came back from their WWII service or had to immediately return to work.
Additional flights are planned for this spring and the group is looking for participants. If you or someone you know is interested, visit the link below for more information.
A motorcycle and classic car poker run is scheduled for September 10. It begins in Medford at 9:30 a.m. and ends at The Highground in Neillsville, and includes a raffle of $10,000 in prizes.
