Nearly 800 veterans have seen their memorials since the inaugural Never Forgotten Honor Flight in 2010. 90 veterans will be on the next flight set to depart on the 24th.
Gene Habeck is one of those veterans headed to DC who didn’t see any action in the World War 2 but still served this country.
Habeck was in the Navy as a Seaman Second Class, and was proud of his intentions to fight for his country.
He elaborates to us what he was thinking during that time saying, “Just a young guy at the time. Maybe 17 or 18 and I think I was anxious to get into the war. I was anxious to fight both Japan and Germany at the time.”
The Never Forgotten Honor Flight will lift off on the 24th.
