MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- Health insurance enrollment counselors across Wisconsin are prepared for a lot of activity as a key deadline under the federal health care overhaul law nears.
Monday at 11 p.m. is the open enrollment deadline in Wisconsin for most people to purchase insurance coverage under the federal law championed by President Barack Obama.
Job centers and other locations with people on hand to help with the enrollment process were open across Wisconsin on Monday to deal with the expected rush.
Meeting the deadline means avoiding financial penalties on 2014 federal taxes. After Monday's deadline, only people with limited special circumstances will be able to get coverage that meets the federal law's requirements.
