Time is up for one UWSP senior working to lose more than half his body weight before his 22nd birthday.

It's been more than a year since Troy Fox set off on his weight loss journey, tipping the scales at 435lbs. Now, just days away from his 22nd birthday, Fox has reached the finish line, losing a grand total of 230lbs.

"As of today I was at about 204lbs, 205lbs," Fox tells NewsChannel 7.

If you're doing the math, that's 20lbs down since we first met him in August. Fox's dad, who inspired him to make this journey after being diagnosed with cancer, couldn't be more proud.

"Extremely proud," Dan Fox gushes. "He's had challenges in life, as we all do, and he's really come forth with a positive, in a positive way."

Not only did Fox meet his goal, his doctors tell him he shouldn't lose anymore weight.

"That was pretty nice to hear. It was relieving," Fox laughs.

While Fox met his goal, he acknowledges the journey is far from over, as his focus shifts from losing weight to maintaining his current weight.

"It's always going to be in my mind that I don't want to gain it back," Fox says adding, "but I know now that after going through all this, I'll never let myself get that far or get that bad."

Fox's dad tells NewsChannel 7 he's confident his son can keep the weight off but adds it won't be easy.

"Challenges in life bring curves around every corner and there may be a time when he has to focus again on it, but again it's a matter of your approach."

With more than 200lbs lost, the question becomes what is next for the unstoppable Troy Fox.

"I think you always have to have a goal set for yourself," Fox says. "Right now I've been trying to do more cardio and like running more, maybe train up to a half marathon if I could."

Fox will celebrate his 22nd birthday on Monday.
