Some parents in Central Wisconsin are choosing to either delay or not vaccinate their children. It's something that has Langlade County public health leaders concerned.

The assistant director of the health department says they've seen a 25 percent increase over a year ago in the number of families waving out. Karen Hegranes says, "We have some health care providers that are encouraging, through saying, possibly that there might be something associated with the vaccine, they should either have caution or they should be concerned."

She says there's no reason to believe that's the case. She says vaccines keep everyone safe and prevent outbreaks or diseases like whooping cough or measles. Schools require parents to get a waiver to delay vaccinations or not get them for their children.
