As sure as the falling leaves, every fall comes the flu.
That's why local health officials are asking you to get vaccinated.
Even though there haven't been any cases of influenza in the area quite yet, leaders at the Marathon County Health Department say now is the time get vaccinated.
They say once you get the shot, it can take weeks before your body becomes immune to the virus.
"Everyone should get the flu vaccine and people will be more severely affected by getting the influenza, or anyone with any chronic medical conditions, the elderly and the very young," says Eileen Eckardt, Director of Family Health and Communicable Disease at the Marathon County Health Department.
She says you cannot get the flu from the vaccine because you're injected with a dead virus.
What you can get is some soreness.
The health department does give the vaccine to anyone 18 and under for just $7 dollars.
