MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- The Wisconsin Department of Health Services has begun to make public ways it plans to cut nearly $500 million in Medicaid costs over the next two years.

The department on Monday unveiled a website that lists six changes to a variety of programs. The biggest savings is from the ongoing freezing of the Family Care program, which was announced earlier this year is projected to save nearly $106 million in state money.

All told, the items released Monday would save about $119 million.

Agency Secretary Dennis Smith says the website was launched to give the public a chance to comment on the proposals. Agency spokeswoman Stephanie Smiley says more proposals will be released in the coming days.
