Pink Ribbon Open Supports Breast Cancer Survivors

It's one of the first summer-like days we've seen this June - making it the perfect day to hit the links. But it was more than just a game of golf, it was for a good cause.

On Monday, golfers played in the Central Wisconsin Pink Ribbon Open at the Wausau Country Club. They teed up to support our local survivors of breast cancer. Since 2004, a group of Central Wisconsin business professionals have worked together to help those who are fighting the long, hard battle of breast cancer. During that time, they've raised more than $400,000 which all stays in our area. That money is awarded to local breast cancer survivors and is spent on everything from medical bills to day to day expenses.

On Monday evening, 6 area breast cancer survivors were honored at a special ceremony at the Wausau Country Club. They shared their inspiring stories and were awarded checks.

NewsChannel 7 is a proud sponsor of the event.

NewsChannel 7's Amy Pflugshaupt was also honored to emcee the ceremony.
