Packer Legend Forrest Gregg Discusses Parkinson's More than Motion Campaign

In 2011, Three time Super Bowl winner, Former Green Bay Packer player and coach Forrest Gregg was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease (PD), a chronic, progressive, neurological disease that affects movement. Approximately 60,000 Americans are diagnosed with PD each year with 7-10 million people living with the disease worldwide.

Gregg recently learned that along with the typical motor aspects of PD, such as slowness and tremors or stiffness, there are also a wide range of non-motor symptoms. These include fatigue, difficulty sleeping or memory problems, which can significantly impact the lives of those affected.

Gregg is sharing his story through a reality-style video series that is part of the Parkinson's More Than Motion community. The series showcases how Gregg and his family coped with the diagnosis and are educating themselves about the full reality of PD.

Sunrise 7's Sean Caldwell spoke with Gregg and Parkinson's expert, Dr. Rajeev Kumar, a Denver-based movement disorder specialist about what people should know before talking with their doctor.

The Parkinson's More Than Motion community was created as a space for people with PD to interact and learn more about the full range of symptoms. To date, more than 42,000 patients and caregivers have added their voices to the conversation through the Facebook page, which offers tools and information on PD.
