Marshfield Clinic, Ministry Saint Michael’s Hospital Sign Cancer Care Partnership

(STEVENS POINT, WI) – Ministry Saint Michael’s Hospital and Marshfield Clinic have signed an agreement to continue to provide cancer care as dedicated partners in Stevens Point on the hospital campus. The result will be the Stevens Point Cancer Center: A partnership between Marshfield Clinic and Ministry Saint Michael’s Hospital.

The two organizations have collaboratively provided cancer care in Stevens Point for nearly 12 years on the Ministry Saint Michael’s Hospital campus.

“This agreement re-affirms both of our organizations’ continued commitment to providing quality care and a patient-centered approach to ensure patients receive the best cancer care,” said Jeff Martin, president of Ministry Saint Michael’s Hospital.

“The Stevens Point Cancer Center will offer the expertise of physicians and care teams from Marshfield Clinic and Ministry Saint Michael’s Hospital to provide the latest advances in cancer treatment, including: state-of-the-art technology, a broad array of clinical services, medical oncology, hematology and radiation therapy,” said Dr. Brian Ewert, Marshfield Clinic president.

In November, the Stevens Point Cancer Center completed an upgrade to technology using the new Varian TrueBeam linear accelerator, the latest advances in radiation treatment for cancer care, to deliver fast, accurate, image-guided treatments with short treatment times for patients. Varian’s TrueBeam system can be used to deliver many forms of radiation therapy treatment including image-guided radiation therapy, intensity-modulated radiation therapy, RapidArc radiation therapy and Gated RapidArc, all of which allow treatments to be specifically designed to provide the most effective radiation therapy for each patient.
The Stevens Point Cancer Center will be staffed by nurses, clinicians, therapists and physicians from both Marshfield Clinic and Ministry Saint Michael’s Hospital—all working together to provide high-quality cancer care. For times when an even higher level of care may be necessary, the Stevens Point Cancer Center maintains direct connections to other partnering cancer programs.
