MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- UW Hospital is being sued again because doctors allegedly revealed a patient's HIV status to relatives without permission.

A lawsuit filed Friday alleges that instead of waking the southern Wisconsin from a nap, a hospital resident told his wife and son he had AIDS and left it to them to break the news. The lawsuit says the revelation "stunned and devastated" the wife and son and left him "distraught" as he was forced to admit his AIDS had likely resulted from same-sex affairs. The lawsuit seeks unspecified damages.

The Wisconsin State Journal reports the other case, filed in October by a Middleton man whose mother was allegedly told he was HIV positive, is currently in mediation.

Spokeswoman Toni Morrissey says UW hospital generally does not comment on pending litigation.
