It's Not Too Late to get the Flu Shot

Updated: Sun 8:37 AM, Feb 05, 2012

We're in peak flu season and if you haven't gotten the flu shot yet, medical experts say it's not too late.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, signs and symptoms of the flu include fever, cough, sore throat, and body aches. It can be deadly especially for children and the elderly. But a local medical expert says it's very important that we all get vaccinated against the flu.

Carin Croker with Aspirus VNA Home Health says, "It's very important to get a flu shot to protect yourself and it also protects other people."

She says we really don't know just how long peak flu season will last, because each year is a little bit different. Experts say getting the flu shot will not give you the flu and there's no cure except getting lots of rest and drinking plenty of fluids. A number of places offer the flu shot including local clinics in our area and the Marathon County Health Department.
