It's Dangerously Cold Outside

With temperatures in the single digits and a wind chill that makes it feel below zero, it's dangerously cold outside.

Anyone who isn't properly dressed could get frostbite and hypothermia quickly.

A local pediatrician says both conditions are extremely harmful. Severe frostbite can lead to loss of limbs and hypothermia can lead to death.

"If you're out there and you're not clothed properly and you don't have another heat source its not gonna take long for your body to become hypothermic and then your body goes off, you go off into a sleep that you dont wake up from," said Larry Gordon, D.O. of Aspirus Weston Clinic.

Dr. Gordon says if you start to shiver, look for a heat source quickly.

If you do plan on spending any time outdoors in freezing temperatures you better be prepared by wearing lots of warm layers.

So far this winter, Dr. Gordon has not seen any cases of frostbite or hypothermia in his office.
