Healthy Weston Fest Kicks Off

The 3rd Annual Healthy Weston Fest kicked off Thursday with free bowling at Dale's Weston Lanes.

The four-day festival includes a variety of family-oriented events.

Thursday is Family Fun Night at Dale's Weston lanes. The bowling alley is offering free bowling from 11 a.m. - 11 p.m. Reservations are required, and discounted food and drinks will be offered.

Thursday at 6 p.m. Wish Steakhouse is hosting live music by Tom Jordan of Meantooth Grin.

Friday's events include the Put Your Best Foot Forward Senior Walk beginning at Birchwood Highlands at 10:30 a.m.

The Splash Down event at the Weston Aquatic Center runs from 6 p.m. - 10 p.m. and includes teen swimming, gaming, and dancing activities. Admission is $2. At 7:30 p.m., the Introspect Dance Company will perform at the D.C. Everest Senior High auditorium.

Saturday the Farmer's Market at Farmer's Market Park will include hayrides from 8 a.m. - noon, the Paper City Polka Band from 9 a.m. - 11 a.m. and Sid Kyler's Dixieland Band from 11:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m.

Also Saturday the Family Fun Run 5K takes off from Kellyland park at 8 a.m. Registration begins at 6:30 a.m. The entry fee is $5 for an individual and $10 for a family.

Weston Fire Department will host a pancake breakfast from 8 a.m. - noon Saturday, and from 2:30 p.m. - 3:30 p.m. is Fitness in the Park at Kennedy Park.

Also at Kennedy Park, the Health Adventure Tent will be open from 4 p.m. - 8 p.m. Saturday. The Kids Carnival will be open until 9 p.m. and the Family Entertainment Tent will have entertainment until 8:30 p.m.

Fireworks will blast off at 9:30 p.m. at Kennedy Park, and an outdoor movie, "Blindside" will play at 10 p.m.

Sunday there will be church in the park and a free family swim at Weston Aquatic Center with at least one non-perishable food item to be donated.

A family bike ride will begin at Kennedy Park at 12:30 p.m.

All profits from the four day festival will benefit the Women's Community, Everest Men Respect, Breanna's Smile and area food pantries.
