(Press Release) A free health education and careers fair will be held at the University of Wisconsin-Marathon County (UWMC) on Wed., Oct. 10 from 11 a.m. - 2 p.m. in the South Hall concourse.

Representatives from several UW System universities offering health care degrees, along with a number of Wausau-area health care providers, will be available to talk with students or anyone who may be interested in exploring a career in the medical industry.

"We receive frequent inquiries from our students and people in the community, asking about health careers, educational options and requirements on a daily basis," said Patti Thwaits, UWMC's outreach coordinator. "This event will give them a great opportunity to get the answers they will need if they decide to pursue a career in the health care industry."

These universities and health care organizations will be participating in the UWMC Health Education and Careers Fair:

UW-Eau Claire College of Nursing;
UW-Madison Medical School;
UW-Madison Physician Assistants Program;
UW-Madison School of Pharmacy;
UW-Milwaukee College of Health Sciences;
UW-Oshkosh College of Nursing;
UW-Stevens Point School of Health Sciences;
Aspirus Hospital and Clinics and Outpatient Therapies;
Elmergreen Associates Counseling;
Family Planning Health Services;

No formal presentations will be held during the health education and careers fair. Attendees will be free to move throughout the concourse, spending as much time as they wish with individual representatives. In addition, UWMC instructors in the pre-health sciences will be available to talk with fair goers.

Members of the Aspirus Visiting Nurses Association also will be available to give flu shots.

UWMC is located at 518 S. 7th Ave., Wausau.
