"Fore a Cure" Tees off to Stop Breast Cancer

One out of every eight women will develop breast cancer in her lifetime, according to the Marshfield Clinic. It's a scary thought, but it's a battle that many people are taking on.

On Monday, hundreds of people took to the greens of the Wausau Country for the 9th Annual "Fore a Cure" event. Over the years, this event has raised more than $750,000 to help fund breast cancer screenings and services to women who can't afford them. It's also helped to fund a Mobile Mammography Unit that travels the state to visit women.

A portion of the proceeds will also be donated to the Catherine Fonti Angel Fund. In addition, proceeds will assist juvenile diabetes care programs at Marshfield Clinic.

The Fonti family are founders of “Fore a Cure”.
