Seeing their child battle a life threatening disease is something no parent should have to bear.
At Ministry Saint Joseph's Children's hospital in Marshfield, a team of specialists helps as much as they can.
Nicole Austin is part of that special team. Whose job is to help families weather the storm; whether it's through the beginning of a diagnosis, medical intervention, or helping throughout treatment.
They use a specific set of creative ideas and experience to help families cope.
"Our job is to make it easier, prepare them for what they're going to experience, what they'll feel, what they will hear and see... give them tools to cope through out it,” explains Child Life Specialist Nicole Austin.
Nicole says all of this is possible through donations, grants and other funds. Without them, they couldn't serve the families that they do.
