Cheesehead Obscured on Anti-Cheese Billboard

ST. FRANCIS, Wis. (AP) -- The maker of the foam cheeseheads so popular with Green Bay Packers fans isn't amused that a physicians group tried to use the hat in an anti-cheese billboard.

Foamation Inc. threatened to sue after the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine announced it was putting up a billboard featuring the Grim Reaper donning a bright yellow cheese-wedge hat.

The sign warns of the health hazards of fat, cholesterol and sodium in cheese. Wisconsin is the nation's top cheese producer.

The committee's president, Dr. Neal Barnard, said Tuesday that the group stands behind the image but its billboard vendor caved to Foamation's threat. The cheesehead image was blacked out before the sign went up.

Foamation attorney Ed Sarskas says the suburban Milwaukee company didn't want to be associated with anything disparaging cheese.
